"Good Life" Sept/1998
This cafe, literally a hole in the wall, sums up East St Kilda'a charm - it is not just HQ for the cafe latte generation, here you'll find kids, elderly folk who have been around the area for decades, young groovers doing up an Edwardian around the corner and a few food critics (who love the place) thrown in. The coffee's strong, the cakes (from Phillippa's) are naturally good and the soup, Turkish bread toasties and big breakfasts (including baked beans) are spot on. The decor includes a communal table, old kosher butcher signs, tropical flowers and wood panelling, and it's all just that bit cheaper than down Fitzroy and Acland Street way.
